Scientific Name: Astronotus ocellatus
Fun fact: These animals are often found for sale for consumption in the local markets of south America.
Region: This species is native to Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, French Guiana, Suriname, Peru, and Venezuela.
- This animal was added to this tank in December of 2024 in honor of Mike’s retirement. We are internally grateful for all his work for the biology department.
